WELCOME to the Nova Scotia Wildlife Carvers and Artists Association. The club was formed in 1989 and now has members throughout the Maritimes and Newfoundland. Our first competition was held in the fall of 1989, and since then, some of our carvers have advanced to world class artists, bringing home ribbons from the Ward (World) Competition in Ocean City, Maryland.

Sheila Young Course "Miniature Blue Heron" - Day 2

Now that our blanks are all trimmed out. All contours smoothed down to the body & head thickness we are ready to start roughing our some shapes in preparation for their details. The eye locations are are plotted and drilled, The shapes are drawn around the eyes and around the beak top and bottom. The eye plane trimmed down to the plans thickness making sure the eyes are straight up and down and not angular. The wings edge line is drawn along the side all the way to the top of the tail section.
